As rental selling prices skyrocket downtown and large-profile new music venues near, it is getting far more tough for rising musical artists to find the money for areas to create and carry out, but now the metropolis is developing a pilot project to deliver areas for musicians at low charge, or no charge.

Coun. Joe Cressy, who represents Ward 10, Spadina-Fort York and chairs the Toronto New music Advisory Committee, suggests areas for so-referred to as Do It Oneself organizers are getting scarce.

On Thursday, Cressy’s committee approved staff recommendations to create a pilot plan for Do-it-yourself new music businesses to use metropolis-owned areas at lessen than marketplace price. 

“The metropolis is a person of the premier landowners. We have thousands of parts of authentic estate, far also numerous of which are being underutilized,” Cressy said.

Any pilot plan would have to be authorized by metropolis council and could be launched in the tumble.
