Introduction
The earlier films in the Bollywood had stories in the Indian context. Those films had the rustic appeal. Many such films are still remembered by old and new alike. Later, the filmmaking in the Hindi movie industry underwent a paradigm shift. Impressed by the work of foreign filmmakers, many directors in the Bollywood resorted to film remakes. Some of them became super-duper hits while some others bombed at the Box Office. People were able to link with some of these movies. On the other hand, the worst performed films could not be identified in Indian conditions. This is what makes the remakes a risky affair. Another issue that crops up is copyright violation.
