How to Claim Travel Insurance When You Need It

How do you keep your receipts organised while you’re travelling? You smash them clumsily into your handbag or backpack. If something goes wrong while you’re away, you might require those receipts and must make a travel insurance claim.

Here’s an improved approach. Make it a practice to quickly take a photo of each receipt when you make a purchase. Create a unique container or envelope to hold them after that.

Save those receipts for later! They’ll be essential when claiming your travel insurance from India. These are seven different kinds of receipts you should always carry with you when you travel.*

1. Receipts for any purchases you made, especially for the vacation

Preparing for a vacation by buying a bikini, travel shoes, and sunglasses is fun. Save the receipts if your luggage is lost, stolen, or destroyed while travelling. To claim lost luggage, take pictures of your bags when packing.*

2. Receipts for all pre-paid trip fees

Trip cancellation may be one of the essential features of your travel insurance policy since it can repay you for your pre-paid, non-refundable charges in the case that you need to cancel the trip for a covered reason. You must present evidence of those pre-paid charges, such as hotel receipts, airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, etc., to submit a trip cancellation (or trip interruption) claim.

3. The invoices for any necessary products you purchased due to a covered luggage delay

Travel insurance can compensate you for the purchase of necessary products you require until your baggage arrives if a travel supplier delays your luggage during your journey, subject to the maximum benefit amount specified in your plan. Save all of the receipts from those purchases; you’ll need them to submit a claim with your travel insurance.*

4. Bills for necessities you purchased due to a covered travel delay

When you experience a covered delay, flight travel insurance comes in handy. With this, you may be entitled to reimbursement for additional costs incurred for food, lodging, communications, and transportation (up to the stated maximum).

5. Invoices for any gifts you purchased while travelling

Save trip receipts for souvenirs and presents. If your travel company, hotel, or tour operator loses or damages your bags, you can claim them. To be reimbursed, you must report a loss to the local authorities, travel company, hotel, or tour operator within 24 hours of learning of it. You must have made reasonable steps to protect and recover your baggage.*

6. Receipts for any emergency medical care you receive

In many nations, patients must pay in full and upfront for services at hospitals and medical offices. You may be reimbursed for emergency medical expenses from your travel insurance cover with emergency medical and dental benefits, but you’ll need the receipts to submit a claim. Remember to dial the 24-Hour Help Hotline as soon as possible if you find yourself in a medical emergency while travelling.

7. Bills for your car hire

If you purchased the Rental Car Damage Protection, save all the papers from the rental car business. To file a claim for covered rental car loss or damage, you’ll need the invoice/receipt for the rental car reservation, stating the dates of the rental term and the price you paid. Whatever occurs while you’re away, we work to make a claim as simple as possible so you can get paid out immediately.*

Several companies provide travel insurance from India, which offers you medical insurance, flight travel insurance, and accommodation insurance, among many other policies to make your trip smooth sailing.

Luckily, with the growth of digitisation, you can also buy travel insurance online.
