Cinematographer Allen Daviau, who shot a few of Steven Spielberg’s films which includes E.T. the Added-Terrestrial, has died.
A agent from the American Modern society of Cinematographers announced yesterday that Daviau died Tuesday of difficulties from COVID-19.
He was seventy seven.
In addition to E.T., Daviau was nominated for an Oscar in cinematography for Empire of the Sun, Bugsy, The Shade Purple and Avalon, and he also worked on Van Helsing, Fearless, The Falcon and the Snowman and Defending Your Lifestyle.
Spielberg mentioned in a statement that, “Allen was a fantastic artist but his heat and humanity have been as powerful as his lens. He was a singular talent and a wonderful human being.”
Born in New Orleans in 1942 and elevated in the Los Angeles area, Daviau mentioned looking at color tv at the age of twelve began his fascination with the technological innovation of light and pictures.

He mentioned he worked at camera suppliers and movie labs to hone his expertise.
Daviau gate-crashed the set of Marlon Brando’s One particular-Eyed Jacks, shot early songs films for The Who and Jimi Hendrix and also shot nonetheless pictures for The Monkees.
He met Spielberg in 1967 and discovered their shared love of films, with Daviau operating on a person of the famed director’s early shorts.
