Kwento Comics is proud to announce the impending launch of their initial graphic novel sequence, The Mask of Haliya. The initially concern in the sequence, Eye of the Serpent, will be offered on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

The Mask of Haliya is a youthful adult city fantasy that follows the journey of a troubled Filipina-American teen who discovers a mysterious mask at her wonderful-grandmother’s wake. A gritty drama inspired by Philippine mythology, the story engages with subject areas like psychological wellbeing, intergenerational trauma, and corruption, with a main emphasis on its feminine people. 

Launched by creator Cecilia Lim, Kwento Comics is an intercontinental all-Asian girls comic guide company whose mission is to generate stories that introduce Filipino and other Asian mythos to a wider viewers. Lim’s team is comprised of head author Kaitlyn Fajilan (Fruit Fly, Madeira), head artist Renoida Renovilla (Imaginative Connections and Commons, Inc.), go over artist Kathryn Layno (Batman Legends of the Dark KnightCastlevania), editor Jenapher Zheng (Oblivious, Borrowed Light), colorist Charlyn Duy, and producer Waverley Lim (The Women’s Task). Kwento Comics recognizes the value of representation, and they hope that the narrative scope and level of social commentary within Haliya will illuminate Asian identity on a world level.
