The appointment of former World and Mail columnist Margaret Wente to a senior fellow place with Toronto’s Massey Faculty is less than evaluation amid fierce opposition from college students and team. 

Controversy emerged right after the school, affiliated with the College of Toronto, declared Wednesday that Wente was a single of 46 folks in a variety of fields named a senior fellow and member of the Quadrangle Society.

The news sparked a petition signed by college students, college, team, alumni, and donors urging the university to rescind the post thanks to her history of inflammatory columns working with race and numerous accusations of plagiarism.

It also prompted U of T professor Alissa Trotz to resign from the nomination committee with a strongly worded letter that termed into dilemma “non-clear mechanisms of selection.”

Massey College principal Nathalie Des Rosiers states Wente’s appointment is less than evaluation due to the fact of “new info that we did not have at the time of her appointment.” She did not elaborate.

Des Rosiers states COVID-19 safety measures disrupted the usual nomination course of action which could have manufactured it far more difficult for committee members to evaluation candidates.
