Shibui Studio Art Gallery opening in Gillespie

GILLESPIE — The Shibui Studio Artwork Gallery, billed as the 1st business artwork gallery in Macoupin County, will open Sept. 12 at 119 S. Macoupin St., Gillespie, upcoming to the Illinois Coal Museum.

 “I am enthusiastic about being a aspect of the rising downtown community. It has been a long-time dream to open up a gallery that supports the works of other artists,” reported proprietor Genece Hamby, initially from Alton.

“Intuitively, I understood that this was the proper time and place,” she stated. “I assume plenty of pleasure in this area in the months and yrs to arrive.” 

The gallery will have its grand opening reception midday to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a ribbon slicing ceremony, meals and an art exhibition. Its opening exhibit will spotlight is effective by Hamby, an award-successful artist known for expressing stillness, splendor and grace via digital paintings. It aalso will function operates by her sister, Trish Frederick, a self-taught acrylic artist with paintings inspired by her favored mother nature spots discovered when touring throughout the U.S.

Shibui Studio Art Gallery plans to regularly rotate displays showcasing area and regional artists in 60 miles of Gillespie with no long term collections.

The minimalist gallery will show up to date will work on paper, paintings, wonderful art images and a range of other mediums. Its mission is to advertise and show art made by the region’s emerging and set up artists although engaging, enriching, and inspiring the neighborhood to recognize the worth of art.

Hrs of operation will be Monday by means of Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., by appointment only Friday 4-8 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., aand Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
