Shibui Studio Art Gallery opening in Gillespie

GILLESPIE — The Shibui Studio Artwork Gallery, billed as the 1st business artwork gallery in Macoupin County, will open Sept. 12 at 119 S. Macoupin St., Gillespie, upcoming to the Illinois Coal Museum.

 “I am enthusiastic about being a aspect of the rising downtown community. It has been a long-time dream to open up a gallery that supports the works of other artists,” reported proprietor Genece Hamby, initially from Alton.

The gallery will have its grand opening reception midday to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a ribbon slicing ceremony, meals and an art exhibition.
