Steamboat Art Museum announces winners of ekphrasis writing competition

The Steamboat Art Museum awarded winners next the fourth yearly ekphrasis visible composing party. Ekphrasis has Greek roots and is a literary description of a function of art.

In 2022, far more than 230 paintings in the Oil Painters of The us 31st National Exhibition delivered inspiration to writers, ensuing in 32 stories and poems from writers of all ages.

The competitiveness concluded July 21 with the readings and awards celebration at the Steamboat Artwork Museum. Awards have been introduced to winners in three groups: adult prose, adult poetry and youth entries.



Grownup prose: Kathi Guler gained for her story centered on the painting “Untamed” by Johne Richardson. An honorable mention went to Dagny McKinley for her story based mostly on “After the Storm” by Nancy Howe.

Adult poetry: Marian Tolles received for her poem centered on “Incoming Tide, Laguna Beach” by Calvin Liang. An honorable mention went to Wendy Lind for her poem based mostly on “Kind of the Wild Things” by Ana Rose Bain.



Youth: Layla Baker, 14, gained for her tale dependent on “La Playa del Sol” by Timothy Reese. An honorable point out was given to Tessher Feinberg, 11, for his poem based on “Night Approached” by Cristen Miller.
