A partnership among The Minimal Theatre and the Rochester Affiliation of Black Journalists, the Black Cinema Sequence is an ongoing month to month film collection celebrating the two documentary and narrative kinds of black cinema from around the world. In honor of Black Record Month, the collection will double up in February with two film screenings and post-film discussions. 1st up is “Waves,” Trey Edward Shults’s sprawling drama about the bonds of adore and forgiveness witnessed via the life of a middle-class, black, American family.
